- 1996 On May 16, 1996, Steve Yzerman scores at 1:15 of the second overtime to defeat the St. Louis Blues and advance to the Conference Finals. Yzerman’s score is the only goal of the game.
On May 16, 1971, Norm cash hits his 300th homer for the Tigers, a solo blast in Detroit’s 5-4 victory over the Senators at RFK Stadium in Washington D.C. Cash is the third Tiger player to reach the 300-homer mark, following Hank Greenberg and Al Kaline.
