This Day In History
- 1913 On May 17, 1913, pitcher George Mullin, who won a record 209 games for the Tigers, is sold to the Washington Senators. Mullin was 1-6 for Detroit in the young season and had struggled in 1912 as well. One of the best hitting pitchers in the game, “Wabash George” won 20 games five times for the Tigers and hit .261 in his 12 seasons in a Detroit uniform. He pitched many of the big games for the Tigers during his career.
