- 2006 On June 18, 2006, the Tigers hit a franchise record eight home
runs in their 12-3 rout of the Cubs at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
Brandon Inge and Chris Shelton each hit two, and Curtis
Granderson, Carlos Guillen, Marcus Thames, and Vance Wilson
each hit one. The win keeps Detroit 1 ½ games ahead in the
American League Central.
On June 18, 1922, Tiger outfielder Harry Heilmann collects his 10th consecutive hit in a game against the Boston Red Sox at Navin Field in Detroit. Heilmann goes 4-for-4 for the second straight night as the Tigers defeat the Sox, 8-1. The 10 straight hits are one shy of Tris Speaker’s major league record.
